The Sinking Of The Titanic

Hello this is my essay on the Titanic hope you enjoy it.

The Sinking Of The Titanic

By Camille

Noon April 10 1912. Today is an exciting day in England. The Largest, newest and most luxurious ship in the world is steaming out of the Southhamptin harbor and what a sight it is to behold. The name of the ship is the Titanic. Now the Titanic is a british made ship and is making its maiden voyage to New York. There are about 2,200 people aboard the ship and all have been told by experts that because the ship has a double bottom and 16 compartments all watertight the ship was "unsinkable". If only that were true. By Sunday evening April 14 reports of nearby icebergs has reached the Titanic. But wanting to make a record speed for the crossing the captian decided not to slow the ship down. But up in the crows nest the lookouts were told to keep an extra sharp eye. If only the captian knew what was coming. It was at about 11:40 when the lookouts cry rang out "iceberg dead ahead". It was only 37 seconds later when it happend. There was a sickening groan as a gigantic iceberg struck the ship and cut a 300 foot gash in its hull. Six of the watertight compartments tore open and the cold North Atlantic sea rushed in they were doomed. Up on deck people were yelling, crying and praying. There was pandemonium there were not enough lifeboats and when they were lowered some of them were only half full. At 2:20am those that made it to the lifeboats huddled together as they watched the Titanic with their loved ones aboard nose down and sink into the depths of the icy North Atlantic sea. Of the 2,200 aboard there were only 700 survivors. As these people learned the hard way that nothing is truly "unsinkable" we must learn the lesson that comes from this. You see the people who made this ship said that not even God could sink it. Well they were wrong He sunk it. It just shows us that pride goes before a fall and that we should never mock God because He can sink our ship.

Proverbs 16:5

The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this,They will not go unpunished.

My next essay is going to be on The Alamo. Till then God bless.
